Conference, which will be held on 25 - 26 October, 2007 in Istanbul, Turkey.

During the last decade, clustering has gained increased popularity as a new and successful
approach to accelerate economic competitiveness. Hundreds of cluster-based initiatives have
been implemented and hundreds, if not thousands, of such initiatives will be launched over the
next few years. In this "learning-by-doing process", cluster practitioners, business leaders and
policy makers have come across many challenges and accumulated a wealth of experience to
cope with them.

Clustering 07 is a joint initiative of three EC-funded projects in Turkey and will focus on three
core concepts:

Nuts and Bolts of Clustering (T1 & T3): The basic working components and practical aspects of
clustering will be discussed during sector-speci-c workshops.

The Policy of Policies (T2): The interplay between clustering and other economic development
 policies and horizontal aspects of clustering policies will be discussed in thematic workshop

Walk the Walk (closing session): The closing session will provide key policy/decision makers
with the opportunity to draw lessons from the conference and share their insights with the public.
